Sapphire Terrace Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum that opens four sapphire-blue doubles at a time on a compact upright caudex. Built for balconies and terraces.
Adenium obesum — Sapphire Terrace. Bred for the way people actually grow things outdoors: a compact upright caudex that never outgrows its pot, and flower heads that open four sapphire-blue doubles at a time so the plant always has something showing. On a balcony table it reads as a proper little standard — trunk, canopy, colour — and it shrugs off the wind and reflected heat that kill fussier container plants.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root caudex with a compact upright trunk, visible eyes and healthy roots.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — group three in matching pots for a terrace trio.
How to start it
- Pot: 6 in / 15 cm terracotta with a drainage hole. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand.
- Water: none for the first 7 days, then soak thoroughly and let it dry out completely.
- Light: 6+ hours of direct sun — terraces and balconies are ideal.
- Cold: USDA 10–12 outdoors year-round; elsewhere bring it in before nights drop below 50°F / 10°C.
Sapphire tones run deepest in spring and autumn; midsummer heat can wash them a shade paler. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
