Orchid Cascade Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum with magenta-purple doubles whose edges frill into white and green. The most orchid-like flower shape here.
Adenium obesum — Orchid Cascade. The petal edges do something unusual: instead of a clean line they ripple outward into a white border tinged green at the tips, so the flower looks closer to a phalaenopsis than a rose. The centre stays tight and pale with a visible column. Paired with exposed surface roots, this one is usually the first plant visitors pick up.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root caudex with raised surface roots and a full root system under it.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — multi-packs ship as separate plants.
How to start it
- Pot: a shallow bowl suits the exposed roots. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand; top-dress with pebbles to keep the crown dry.
- Water: 7 dry days after potting, then soak-and-dry. Water the soil, never the crown.
- Light: 6+ hours. Keep the pot turned weekly so the ruffles open evenly on all sides.
- Cold: USDA 10–12; indoors above 50°F / 10°C, near-dry through winter.
The white-green edge is strongest on the first flush of the season and softens as flowers age. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
