Gilded Azure Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum with cobalt-blue doubles outlined in a gold picotee edge — the highest-contrast flower in the blue group.
Adenium obesum — Gilded Azure. Cobalt petals with a gilded edge: every ruffle is outlined in a thin gold line, so the flower keeps its definition even at full stride when five or six blooms crowd together. It is the highest-contrast plant in the blue group, and that contrast is what makes it photograph so well against dark pots and pale walls alike. Habit is upright and bushy, with new buds forming while the first flush is still open.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root caudex with visible eyes and a full root system — not a seed, not a cutting.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — multi-packs are separate caudexes.
How to start it
- Pot: free-draining mix — 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand — in a pot with a drainage hole.
- Water: dry for the first 7 days, then soak and let the pot dry completely before the next drink.
- Light: 6+ hours. Bright light is what keeps the gold rim crisp.
- Cold: USDA 10–12 outdoors; elsewhere keep above 50°F / 10°C.
Blues and golds are the most sun-sensitive pairing we grow: dim rooms mute the gold first. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
