Braided Jade Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum with a hand-braided, woven caudex and pale jade-cream doubles. A collector’s form for bonsai-style display.
Adenium obesum — Braided Jade. The trunk is the headline: three young stems plaited into a single braid that swells into one unified caudex as the plant ages, the same craft used on money trees but far rarer on adenium. Above it, pale jade-cream rose-form doubles open in soft waves. This is the variety for people who already own a few desert roses and want the one guests ask about.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root braided caudex with the plait already formed, visible eyes and full roots.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — every braid is individually made, so no two match exactly.
How to start it
- Pot: a shallow, wide container shows the braid best — always with a drainage hole. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand.
- Water: dry for the first 7 days, then soak-and-dry cycles.
- Light: 6+ hours of direct sun. Rotate occasionally for even growth on all faces of the braid.
- Cold: USDA 10–12 outdoors; indoors above 50°F / 10°C.
The plait fuses tighter every year — expect the individual stems to disappear into one trunk within a couple of seasons. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
