Sculptor’s Violet Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum with deep violet doubles over a dense, sculpted canopy — a bonsai-first variety for styled pots and shelves.
Adenium obesum — Sculptor’s Violet. A violet that behaves like a bonsai subject: dense internodes, a naturally rounded canopy and a caudex that thickens early, so the plant holds a sculpted shape with almost no pruning. The flowers are deep violet rose-form doubles, carried just above the foliage in waves through the warm months. In an ornate or stone-look pot it finishes as a table-centre piece, not just a plant.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root caudex with a dense, self-branching habit, visible eyes and full roots.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — each caudex grows its own character.
How to start it
- Pot: shallow and substantial — a stone-look or glazed bowl with a drainage hole. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand.
- Water: none for the first 7 days, then soak and let it dry out completely.
- Light: 6+ hours; rotate monthly so the canopy stays even.
- Cold: USDA 10–12 outdoors; elsewhere above 50°F / 10°C with a dry winter rest.
