Grown out it becomes a sunflower-haired brute; braided it becomes two antennae; with the glasses on it looks faintly academic.

What you get

• One doll per piece ordered, about 4 in / 10 cm tall, filled and pre-sown with rye grass.

How to grow and style it

• Soak 8–12 hours first. Accessories go on dry grass, not wet.
• Water daily, mist twice a day in heated rooms.
• Light: bright windowsill, 4–6 hours, rotated every few days so it grows upright.
• Style at three weeks: topknot with a clip, two braids with the ties, or a flat crop under the glasses.
• Water-grown option: one doll in the photo sits in a glass jar with its roots in water — a clean way to display it on a desk with no saucer. Change the water twice a week.
