Rose Petticoat Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum whose doubles layer like a garden rose — tight outer petals, a spiral heart. Soft pink that warms to peach at the base.
Adenium obesum — Rose Petticoat. The most rose-like flower shape of the fifteen: petals stack in overlapping rings with a spiral heart, so the bud opens looking like a hybrid tea rose and keeps that shape for a fortnight. Colour runs from soft pink at the rim to a warm peach at the base of each petal. The caudex is neat and rounded rather than gnarled — a good match for the formal flower.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root caudex with a rounded, even trunk and healthy roots.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — multi-packs are separate caudexes.
How to start it
- Pot: 5–6 in / 13–15 cm. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand.
- Water: dry for 7 days, then soak and dry out completely. Layered petals trap moisture — water the soil only.
- Light: 6+ hours. The peach tone only appears with strong light; shade keeps it flat pink.
- Cold: USDA 10–12; indoors above 50°F / 10°C.
Rose-form doubles open slowly and hold longer than any other shape here — up to three weeks per flower in cool weather. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
