Jewel Box Trio Amaryllis Bulbs — Violet, Azure & Rose

This is the pack to buy if you cannot decide. A deep violet with a white star at the throat, an azure that leans cornflower rather than navy, and a rose that stays pink instead of going red. Planted together the three grades read as one scheme, which is what separates a mixed pack from three odd bulbs in a pot.

What you get

• The three colorways shown, split as evenly as the count allows; larger counts add a second bulb of each.
• 26/28 cm bulbs, two stems each, four to six blooms per stem.
• Assorted at packing. Colors are chosen by us, not at checkout.

Planting

• Pot: a 6–7 in pot per bulb, two-thirds soil, one-third bulb above the rim — amaryllis sulk when they are buried.
• Water: soak once at planting, then keep the mix just damp. Wet soil around the bulb is the usual reason a big bulb never opens.
• Light: Bright light for all three; they open within a week of each other — a south or west window, or a grow light for 12 hours a day.
• Root in the dark first: 2–3 weeks in a cool, darkish room gets roots down before the stem runs up.
• Stake it early. A double this heavy leans, and it will not straighten again once the flowers open.
• A 10 in bowl takes three bulbs comfortably and the stems will lean outward into a fan.

After the flowers

• Label each bulb when you lift it — the colors are indistinguishable once the leaves are up.
• All three rebloom in year two with a summer of feeding.

Bulbs ship dormant and firm, 26/28 cm around, boxed to protect the nose. Orders leave in 5–7 working days; 8–25 working days in transit. Petal color shifts a little with light and temperature — the cooler the room, the deeper the bloom.
