Blush Buds Desert Rose Bulbs

Adenium obesum — Blush Buds. Some varieties are sold for the flower; this one is sold for the moment just before it. The buds push up pink-tipped over a ruff of cream-and-green foliage, and every one of them is a promise you get to watch happen. Once they open they run from cream to blush pink, and the plant keeps producing new buds while the first flush is still out, so there is almost always something about to happen.

What you get

• Dormant bare-root caudex with a naturally upright habit, visible eyes and healthy roots.
• Continuous bud production from the first warm season on.

How to start it

• Pot: any free-draining container with a hole. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand.
• Water: none for the first 7 days, then soak-and-dry. More light means more buds.
• Light: 6+ hours of sun; a bright sill works if it faces the sun.
• Cold: USDA 10–12 outdoors; elsewhere above 50°F / 10°C.

Buds open paler than the mature colour — the blush deepens over a few days. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
