Golden Hour Desert Rose Bulbs
$16.44 – $49.32Price range: $16.44 through $49.32
Adenium obesum in cream and apricot doubles, gold-edged. The only warm-toned variety here, and the one that flowers in the shortest days.
Adenium obesum — Golden Hour. Cream petals that warm to apricot and peach toward the centre, each one outlined in gold. Warm-toned adenium are unusual — most of the market is red, pink and purple — and this one earns its place by flowering on less light than the others, so it will still bloom on an east-facing sill.
What you get
- Dormant bare-root caudex with a sturdy trunk, visible eyes and intact roots.
- Flowers the first season once nights stay above 60°F / 15°C.
- One plant per bulb ordered — each a separate caudex.
How to start it
- Pot: 5–6 in / 13–15 cm, free-draining. 50% cactus soil, 30% pumice, 20% coarse sand.
- Water: 7 dry days after potting, then soak-and-dry. Yellow flowers bruise if water sits on them.
- Light: 4–6 hours is enough — the most shade-tolerant of the fifteen, though more light means more apricot.
- Cold: USDA 10–12; indoors above 50°F / 10°C.
Expect the first flowers to open nearly cream and take on apricot over about ten days. Ships dormant and bare-root, wrapped in dry sphagnum. 5–7 working days to dispatch, 8–25 working days in transit.
