Lilac Mist Lily Bulbs
$30.99 – $99.99Price range: $30.99 through $99.99
Pale lilac petals, half of them doubled, on stems that look like they were drawn rather than grown. Lilac Mist is the softest thing in the collection.
Lilium Oriental Hybrid — Lilac Mist. This is the lily equivalent of a watercolour that was left slightly wet.
The petals are lilac at the tips, fading to a pale green throat, with a light dusting of freckles and a ruffled, half-double centre that makes each flower look hand-arranged. Blooms are 6–7 inches, three to five to a stem, and they open slowly — a stem stays good for close to three weeks.
Use it where you want softness rather than drama: a white border, a pale pot, a bedside jug.
What you get
- Pale lilac petals fading to a green throat, lightly freckled.
- Half-double, ruffled centre on every bloom.
- Long flowering: a single stem stays in flower for up to three weeks.
- Top-size 14/16 cm bulbs — flowers the first summer.
- Excellent cut flower, and the best of the pale lilies for scent.
How to grow it
- Plant: 6 in / 15 cm deep, 8–10 in apart, in full sun and well-drained soil. Pointy end up. Mark the spot — lilies are late to emerge in spring.
- Water: soak after planting, then whenever the top inch of soil dries. Never let water sit in the hole.
- Light: 6+ hours of direct sun; light afternoon shade keeps the flowers from fading.
- Cold: fully hardy in USDA zones 4–9. Mulch the first winter; no lifting needed.
- After flowering: cut only the flower stems. Let the foliage yellow on its own — that is next year’s bulb being built.
Shipped dormant and cleaned, 14/16 cm top-size bulbs. Dispatch in 5–7 working days, 8–25 working days in transit. Colour depth varies with soil, light and season — the first flower from a fresh bulb is usually the most intense.
