Why gardeners plant Coral Haze

Coral Haze is the warmest hosta in the collection. Each heart-shaped leaf opens soft salmon and deepens to a glowing coral as the season runs on, so the clump reads as a pool of sunset colour under trees where most perennials turn plain green.

A sturdy, evenly mounding plant that fills out quickly without sprawling. Use it as a single accent against dark evergreens, or repeat it down a shaded border where its warm tone lifts the whole planting.

What actually arrives

You receive one dormant bare-root division — a root crown with 1–2 visible eyes and fleshy storage roots, packed in moist peat inside a breathable bag.

Hostas are not true bulbs. There is no papery tunic and no basal plate, so do not expect an onion-shaped bulb: what ships is the crown the grower lifts and grades. Dormancy is when a hosta travels best, and it is completely normal for the roots to look dry and leafless on arrival.

How to plant

1. Unpack on arrival and soak the roots for 30 minutes.
2. Dig a hole wide enough to spread the roots flat, about 4–6 in deep.
3. Set the crown 1 in below soil level with the eyes pointing up.
4. Backfill, firm gently, water in thoroughly.
5. Top-dress with compost. No fertiliser in the first season.
